Hi all,

I have recently joined those of us who record things we do or special events, to preserve memories. I thought since sighted people have pictures and videos, why can't we have something to keep for memory's sake? also I record things in order for people to get to know me. To get to know what I do, the way I am etc. Of course I only share my recordings with friends, unless I know it's okay for the public, since I have absolutely no experience in editing.
What about you? Do you enjoy maing recordings? Only yesterday i recorded my shopping trip as I shopped for clothes and other girlie stuff. Feel free to post what you think!!

I tend to record events in some instances (either audio or video). I think it's important to have some kind of a record of our lives, even if it's only for sentimental reasons.

Sometimes I wish I had made recordings of my daughter when she was small. It's not something everyone else does around you so I guess I never really considered it.
And, the only people I have known who were audio were highly critical and sensitive. But yes, I should think there is a place for standard audio recordings. My daughter is a budding photographer. So, to her, a picture is truly a work of art. I grew up around such people, and never really knew that the majority of people who take pictures do so in a manner my daughter and other family members of mine never would. That is because for most people a picture is just for memory.
The difficulty with making a recording is it's not instant like a camera, a still shot, but you have to run it for awhile. You can't get a cute pose by audio.
Someone brought this up to me, and she is sighted, that it would be nice to put audio on Facebook so people could identify one another by voice as well as by pictures. Plus, people upload pics of where they are, a quick shot of everyone sitting by the pool, etc., but recording does seem a lot more challenging.
I have tried making Audioboo recordings of some neighborhood birds, and it really does seem to take a lot of thoughtful preparation.
When I was your age, I never gave any of this any thought. My guess is you'll be the better for it, if you can figure out a way to capture some prime moments, say, the squealage of your kids opening presents with all that entails, etc.

I will record many things such as birthdays. I am also a podcaster so there's that.

I record lists and future appointments or events and class lectures because I find that it does help me better remember things.

I just started using a digital recorder for my classes. To be honest I'm not that fond of mine I guess because I am still new at it. Anyone have any sugestions, my recordings always come out to low .

I just got an Olympus DM420 and am absolutely addicted. I don't know how to sound-edit either, and agree that most blind people are so snarky and sensitive about quality that nothing I do is worth sharing with much of anyone, haha. Sighties tend to not want to sit through the stuff, either, I've found; they don't have the attention span for it unless pics are attached, I suppose. Still, for sentimentality, it's great. And it's even more boss for music and choir rehearsals and the like.

occasionally. and I use it more for showing personality more like audio profiles showcase clips of performances and reading of my fictions and nonfictions so not all that much, but I do enjoy it as I enjoy public speaking and most of my recording is in that capacity.

I tend to just record random shit with my digital recorder.

To the post asking for any suggestions, what kind of recorder is it? Zoom? Olympus? Soni? I may be able to help you. Give me a shout.

Is Goldwave free? If not, what's a good and easy sound editor to use that's free? I'm a Window-Eyeser, if that's relevant.
